OBFCM SOLUTION

SINCE 20 MAY 2023 FOR §57A COMPANIES MANDATORY

OBFCM is a technology for monitoring the fuel consumption and energy efficiency of vehicles in real time, which is prescribed by EU Regulation (EU) 2018/1832. Car workshops are obliged to collect OBFCM data during maintenance or repairs to ensure compliance and reduce the environmental impact of road transport.

Our X-431 diagnostic devices can now be equipped with the innovative OBFCM function to fulfil the requirements of the EU regulation.

OBFCM Process

The process involves several key steps, beginning with the connection of the vehicle to the OBFCM system. Subsequently, the activation of the OBFCM function on our X-431 diagnostic devices allows for the collection of vital data. This data is then used to create comprehensive reports, which include essential information such as the WORKSHOP ID, before being sent to the relevant authorities. This seamless process not only ensures regulatory compliance but also underscores a commitment to environmental responsibility within the automotive industry.

The simple process:

  1. As soon as your diagnostic device is up to date, select the “Manual diagnostics” option.
  2. Then go to the “OBD/OBFCM” tab.
    Then click on the “EU OBFCM” field.
  3. In the menu that appears, you must now select the “Buy” button.
  4. If you already have an activation card, please click on the “Card for subscription renewal” field.
  5. Otherwise, please contact your dealer or visit our online shop at the following address: https://launch-europe-shop.de/Digitale-Karten/
  6. You will then need to enter your 24-digit pin code.

Reporting

To use the OBFCM function, you must connect the Smartlink to the vehicle you want to diagnose.

It’s that simple

  1. To do this, first go to the “Manual diagnostics” option on the main screen.
  2. Then select the “OBD/OBFCM” sub-item.
  3. Then click on the “EU OBFCM” field.
  4. The vehicle’s OBFCM data will now be read out, which is confirmed by a small pop-up window.
  5. When you click on “Report”, you must first select the country in which the vehicle and you are located. After selecting, click on “Confirm” to continue.
  6. The OBFCM data report is now ready and can either be saved or uploaded. Select “Save” or “Upload” accordingly.re-controlSaved OBFCM reports and uploaded reports can be reviewed at any time.an upload button will automatically appear behind reports that have not yet been uploaded; users can upload the reports at any time.

Dispatch to the competent authority

The data should be read by the diagnostic device with OBFCM software and reported to the server responsible for collecting OBFCM data in each European country.

To submit OBFCM data in Austria, Finland and Sweden, it is necessary to report the serial number of the device to the respective authority.

Note: Only the first 12 digits are relevant for the registration of the serial number.After successful reporting, you will receive a token that you must enter into your diagnostic device.

  1. Navigate to the menu item “EU OBFCM “
  2. Press “Uploaded Reports”
  3. Enter the token received and confirm the entry.

These steps ensure that your diagnostic device is correctly configured and the OBFCM data can be successfully transmitted.

Dispatch to the competent authority
