With the entry into force of EU Regulation 2018/858, more and more vehicle manufacturers have started to protect access to vehicle electronics via the OBD interface using so-called security gateway modules. This has an impact on the previously unrestricted communication between the vehicle diagnostic device and the respective vehicle. LAUNCH Europe GmbH currently offers SGW activation for FIAT Chrysler Automobiles, Mercedes and Renault / Dacia models to enable activation and thus full access to all diagnostic functions again.

Security gateway modules are comparable to a firewall in computer systems. With a LAUNCH SGW activation card from our online shop, it is possible to regain full access to the vehicle’s control units and on-board electronics.

It is already certain that a further manufacturer will be added in 2024 and that Security Gateway activation will therefore be possible for current vehicle models with diagnostic devices from the LAUNCH X-431 series.

Verbinden Sie das LAUNCH X-431 Diagnosegerät über das zugehörige VCI mit dem Fahrzeug. Über die automatische VIN Erkennung werden die Fahrzeugdaten ausgelesen und an das Diagnosegerät übermittelt. Bei diesem Prozess werden Herstellerdaten sowie alle verbauten Steuergeräte des Fahrzeugs erkannt.
Nachdem die Fahrzeugdaten ausgelesen und eine Diagnose gestartet wurde, erkennt das System ob ein Security Gateway Modul Fahrzeug verbaut ist. Sollte dies der Fall sein, werden Sie darauf hingewiesen, dass die vollständige Diagnose nur mit einer Security Gateway Freischaltung möglich ist.
Mit dem Erwerb einer Security Gateway Lizenz von LAUNCH Europe ist die Freischaltung des SGW Moduls des Fahrzeugs und somit die vollständige Nutzung aller Funktionen Ihres LAUNCH X-431 Diagnosegerätes wieder möglich.
Connect the LAUNCH X-431 diagnostic device to the vehicle via the corresponding VCI. The vehicle data is read out via automatic VIN recognition and transmitted to the diagnostic unit. During this process, manufacturer data and all installed control units of the vehicle are recognised.
After the vehicle data has been read out and a diagnosis has been started, the system recognises whether a Security Gateway module is installed in the vehicle. If this is the case, you will be informed that full diagnostics are only possible with a Security Gateway activation.
With the purchase of a Security Gateway licence from LAUNCH Europe, it is possible to activate the SGW module of the vehicle and thus use all the functions of your LAUNCH X-431 diagnostic device again.
